Chennai, April 11 - The much-anticipated political action thriller Jana Nayagan, widely believed to be Thalapathy Vijay's final cinematic outing before his full-time political entry, has landed in hot water amid the release date uncertainty. Certain scenes from the film, with some reports claiming the entire film has been leaked online, are sending shockwaves across the industry.
Superstar Rajinikanth expressed his disappointment over the leak, calling piracy shocking and painful to the creative ecosystem. The superstar urged the film association to raise their voice against piracy and asked the government to "identify those responsible and impose severe punishment".

Echoing similar sentiments, veteran actor Kamal Haasan condemned the act, stating that piracy not only harms producers financially but also disrespects the hard work of thousands of technicians and artists involved in a project. He stressed the need for stricter enforcement of anti-piracy laws.
Kamal Haasan also directly called out the system for delaying the certification, which forced the makers to postpone the release. He said, "Inordinate delays in certification created fertile ground for piracy. Who protects the creator when the system fails? We need accountability, swift certification, strict enforcement, and real-time takedowns".

Jana Nayagan has been generating massive buzz ever since its announcement, with fans eagerly awaiting what is being described as Vijay's "swan song" in cinema. The film was scheduled for January 9, 2026, release, but was postponed due to certification delay. The leak, however, has raised concerns among producers and distributors, who fear it could impact the film's box office performance.
