Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 4 Stuck in Limbo Over VFX Disagreement, Not Budget Alone
BY SACNILK
Mumbai, April 2 – The much-awaited return of India's biggest homegrown superhero franchise, Krrish, is getting delayed time and again. The film was announced many moons back, but it has yet to take off on the production front due to various reasons over time. Last year, it was reported that Yash Raj Films came on board to produce this highly anticipated superhero spectacle, giving the franchise a massive boost to proceed. However, things went dry very soon when it was reported that YRF was reassessing the budget demanded by Hrithik, especially after the actor's War 2 with the studio flopped at the box office. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Now, a new report has emerged regarding the delay in the film's production. While early reports suggested budget concerns as the primary reason behind the delay, the latest developments indicate that the issue is more nuanced and centres around a crucial VFX decision. According to the report by Variety, Krrish 4 is very much in development, and pre-production work is ongoing. The delay, however, stems from a key creative and technical disagreement between Hrithik and YRF regarding the film's visual effects execution. Hrithik, who has been deeply involved in shaping the film, is reportedly keen on onboarding a top Hollywood VFX company to deliver a global-standard superhero experience. On the other hand, Aditya Chopra is said to prefer utilising YRF's in-house VFX division, YFX, to maintain tighter control over production and costs. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) This difference in approach has led to a temporary halt, with both sides yet to finalise the VFX partner. The report suggests that discussions are ongoing and a decision is expected in the coming months. Interestingly, earlier reports had pointed to a budget gap as a major hurdle, with the film's scale pushing costs significantly higher. While that may still be a factor in the background, the immediate bottleneck appears to be the vision for the film's VFX quality and execution. Despite the delay, Hrithik continues to prioritise Krrish 4. However, if things don't fall into place soon, the actor may shift focus to a previously signed project with Hombale Films. For now, Krrish 4 remains one of the most anticipated yet uncertain projects in Bollywood — caught between ambition, scale, and the challenge of delivering a truly world-class superhero spectacle.
