LIK Week 1 Box Office: Pradeep Ranganathan’s film trails Dragon by a massive 43% globally. With a ₹60 Cr budget and mixed word of mouth, LIK faces an uphill battle to reach breakeven.

LIK Week 1 Box Office Collection: Pradeep Ranganathan Film Nears Rs. 50 Crore Worldwide; Trails Behind Dragon by a Massive 43% Globally

LIK: Love Insurance Kompany has officially completed its first week at the box office, showcasing a journey that has been a mix of a strong start followed by a noticeable stabilization. On its seventh day, which was the first Thursday, the film collected a net of ₹2.44 Cr across 3,368 shows. This represents a healthy recovery from its Wednesday low of ₹1.95 Cr, indicating that the urban audience in the Tamil and Telugu belts is providing the necessary support to keep the film afloat as it enters its second week. The total India net collection currently stands at ₹34.04 Cr, with the India gross reaching ₹39.32 Cr.

While the domestic numbers are fair, the overseas performance of LIK is where the trade is seeing the most significant signs of a slowdown. The film has grossed a total of ₹10.60 Cr internationally so far. Analyzing the day-wise movement, it is clear that the project was heavily front-loaded. It earned about ₹2 Cr on its opening Friday and surged to ₹9.30 Cr by the end of its first Sunday. However, the weekdays saw a steep decline, with only about ₹1.30 Cr being added over the subsequent four days. In the North American circuit, the film has managed to collect $247k as of Wednesday, a figure that is respectable but far from the record-shattering numbers the trade has come to expect from a Pradeep Ranganathan project.

To put this performance into perspective, one must look at Pradeep's previous outings in 2025. His February release, Dragon, remains the gold standard for his appeal, having achieved a massive ₹88.40 Cr worldwide in its opening week. In comparison, LIK's ₹49.92 Cr total means it is trailing behind Dragon by a massive 43 per cent globally. Similarly, his Diwali release, Dude, was in a different league altogether, where the worldwide gross had already reached ₹66.17 Cr by its fourth day. These comparisons indicate that LIK is facing a much steeper uphill climb; with a high production budget of ₹60 crore and mixed word of mouth affecting organic growth, the film is yet to be declared a success. Unlike his earlier blockbusters, the lack of unanimous praise has prevented the kind of weekday momentum needed to bridge the gap between its current collections and the breakeven mark.

The language-wise breakdown reveals that the Tamil version continues to be the primary engine, contributing ₹26.82 Cr to the total India net. The Telugu version has also made a solid impact, chipping in with ₹7.22 Cr. The overall worldwide gross currently stands at ₹49.92 Cr, just shy of the ₹50 Cr milestone. As we head into the second weekend, the focus will be on whether the film can recapture its initial surge or if it will continue its low-level crawl. With the worldwide total being dominated by the domestic share of nearly 78 per cent, the dependency on the home market has never been higher for this Vigesh Shivan directorial.

Here is the day-wise breakdown at the Indian box office (net collection):

Day 1: ₹ 7.05 crore

Day 2: ₹ 7.95 crore

Day 3: ₹ 7.50 crore

Day 4: ₹ 3.00 crore

Day 5: ₹ 4.15 crore

Day 6: ₹ 1.95 crore

Day 7: ₹ 2.44 crore

Total Week 1 Net: ₹ 34.04 crore

Love Insurance Kompany: Is the Vignesh Shivan-Pradeep Ranganathan Film Targeting an April 3rd Release?

BY SACNILK

Speculation is mounting regarding the official release date of Vignesh Shivan's upcoming sci-fi romantic comedy, Love Insurance Kompany (LIK). A recent social media update from the director has sparked rumors that the film may finally hit theaters on April 3, 2026. Sharing a post on Instagram, Shivan highlighted the date April 3rd! alongside a cryptic caption referencing the industry adage that one Friday can change everything. By phrasing the question, Is this going to be that Good a Friday!?, the director strongly hinted at a release coinciding with the Good Friday holiday, though a formal confirmation from the production houses, Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio, is still pending. The film, which features a high-profile cast including Pradeep Ranganathan, S. J. Suryah, and Krithi Shetty, is set in a futuristic version of the world between 2035 and 2040. The narrative reportedly follows a young man who uses a time-travel device to find pure love, only to encounter a corporate-driven society where the Love Insurance Kompany, led by S. J. Suryah's character, commercializes and monitors romantic relationships. With music by Anirudh Ravichander, the project has generated significant buzz for its unique blend of technology and romance. The anticipation for Love Insurance Kompany is fueled largely by the remarkable box office streak of its lead, Pradeep Ranganathan. Since his breakout as an actor-director, Ranganathan has consistently delivered high-yielding projects. His directorial debut Love Today was a massive success, earning a worldwide gross of ₹83.55 Cr (with an India net of ₹66.57 Cr) and securing a Blockbuster verdict. This was followed by the high-octane Dragon, which further solidified his stardom by crossing the ₹150 Cr mark worldwide, earning a Blockbuster status with an India net of ₹102.55 Cr.His most recent outing, Dude (2025), continued this winning trend as a Superhit, collecting approximately ₹114.30 Cr worldwide with an India Net of ₹73.13 Cr. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) With this consistent run of three major hits, Pradeep Ranganathan has effectively ascended to the Tier-2 grade of Tamil cinema stars. His transition from a successful director to a reliable lead actor is being compared by industry insiders to the early career trajectories of established stars. There is now a palpable sense of box office confidence surrounding his projects; distributors and theater owners increasingly view his films as a minimum guarantee for strong openings, particularly among the youth and family demographics. This newfound status as a bankable hero has fundamentally changed how his films are scheduled. The industry no longer treats his releases as experimental projects, but as major commercial tentpoles. However, the path to the big screen has been marked by several scheduling shifts. Love Insurance Kompany was initially linked to a September 2025 release, which was later moved to October 17 to coincide with Diwali. That date was reportedly vacated to avoid a box-office clash with another Pradeep Ranganathan starrer, Dude. Subsequent plans for a December 18, 2025, release were also deferred, likely to avoid the heavy competition from the global release of Avatar: Fire and Ash. This latest hint suggests the makers are now prioritizing the lucrative summer holiday window. If the April 3rd date is indeed the final choice, the production team faces a remarkably tight window for marketing and promotions. Industry observers note that for a high-concept film involving sci-fi elements and time travel, a robust promotional campaign is usually essential to familiarize the audience with the premise. Despite the limited time remaining, the strategic advantage of a holiday weekend—starting with the Good Friday break—could provide the necessary momentum for a strong opening, provided the official announcement arrives shortly.

Love Insurance Kompany Postponed, Sets Up Potential 2026 Clash with Suriya's Karuppu

BY SACNILK

A major shift in the Kollywood release calendar has set the stage for a potential blockbuster clash in 2026. Pradeep Ranganathan's highly anticipated film, Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), has been postponed from its December 18, 2025 release, and is now reportedly eyeing a 2026 debut, potentially pitting it against Suriya's upcoming action-drama, Karuppu. Love Insurance Kompany, a futuristic romantic comedy directed by Vignesh Shivan, has been one of the most talked-about projects, especially after the phenomenal success of Pradeep Ranganathan's Love Today. The film, which also stars Krithi Shetty and S.J. Suryah with music by Anirudh Ravichander, has seen several release date changes.Initially slated for September and then Diwali 2025, the makers settled on a December 18 release to avoid a clash with Pradeep's other film, Dude. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) However, the latest reports indicate the film has been pushed again, this time to February 2026.This move is reportedly to avoid a conflict with the Hollywood behemoth Avatar: Fire and Ash, which is releasing on December 19, 2025.This strategic shift now places LIK directly in the 2026 release corridor. This postponement has sparked excitement among fans as it sets up a potential box office showdown between the new-age sensation Pradeep Ranganathan and the veteran superstar Suriya. Suriya's next major release, Karuppu, is also scheduled to hit theatres in 2026. Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu is a rural action-drama that will see Suriya paired with Trisha Krishnan. The film, which explores local traditions and beliefs, was initially planned for a Diwali 2025 release but was postponed to 2026 due to extensive visual effects work. With both films now likely to release in the same year, the stage is set for a fascinating clash between two generations of stars. Pradeep Ranganathan, who has become a youth icon, will be taking on the might of Suriya, an actor with a massive and loyal fanbase. As Kollywood gears up for 2026, all eyes will be on the official release date announcements for what could be one of the year's most exciting box office battles.

Pradeep Ranganathan's LIK Postponed To December 18, Averting Clash With Dude

BY SACNILK

Chennai, October 16 - Rising Tamil star Pradeep Ranganathan was heading to lock horns with himself this Diwali with Dude and Love Insurance Kompany. However, in a major relief, the unwanted clash has been averted after the makers postponed LIK to December 18, 2025. Produced by Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio, LIK was announced for Diwali 2025 release along with Ranganathan's Dude (October 21), produced by AGS Entertainment. On Monday (October 6), the makers officially announced that LIK was postponed and it will now be released in December instead. While the actor has avoided the tricky situation for now, LIK won't be a solo outing in December either. It is already announced that James Cameron's highly-awaited Avatar: Fire and Ash is scheduled to hit the big screen on December 19, and it will be a major cinematic event at the Indian box office. Meanwhile, LIK is directed by Vignesh Shivan. The science fiction romantic comedy was initially announced untitled in 2019 with Sivakarthikeyan starring and Lyca Productions producing; however, it was shelved due to budget concerns. In 2023, the project was revived with Pradeep, and the official announcement by Seven Screen Studios was made in September that year. The movie, set in 2040, stars Pradeep Ranganathan, S. J. Suryah and Krithi Shetty in leading roles, while Yogi Babu, Seeman, Gouri G Kishan, Shah Ra, Malavika, Mysskin, Anandaraj and Sunil Reddy play supporting roles. Stay tuned...
